Dear Islington Carer,

Workshops for January & February

Our First Aid Workshops, run by the British Red Cross have always been extremely popular.  We'd like to let you know about some FREE online workshops that we have planned for the start of the new year.

This includes the popular First Aid Course, but we've expanded the programme to include further workshops that we think will be of interest.

Adapt and Recover from Adversity Workshop

Thursday 13th January 10.30am-12noon

This workshop will explore tools and strategies to build resilience. You will learn to help yourself and others adapt and recover from challenges by identifying practical and emotional skills that help when faced with a crisis. The workshop will be based around interactive activities and group discussion, with chances to reflect and share personal experiences.

As a result of this workshop we aim to help you:

  • Increase your ability to cope with change and transition during times of adversity.
  • Acknowledge and appreciate your own and others’ experiences during challenging times.
  • Feel confident to move forward positively.

To book, please email me at: CAlcovedes@ageukislington.org.uk

As a result of this workshop we aim to help you:

  • Learn essential first aid skills.
  • Assess and manage risks to make informed choices when helping others.
  • Build confidence and willingness to help in a first aid emergency.

To book, please email me at: CAlcovedes@ageukislington.org.uk

Tackling Loneliness Workshop

Thursday 10th February 10.30am-12.30pm

Feeling lonely and isolated can make life challenging, especially during a crisis. It can be difficult to know how to help. This workshop aims to give you the opportunity to speak openly about how it might feel to be lonely or isolated and learn skills to help others who may be suffering.

Using group discussion to address the complex causes and effects of loneliness, there will be a chance to reflect and share personal experiences too. We will also discuss and practise how to be an effective listener in order to support others.

As a result of this workshop we aim to help you:

  • Feel comfortable talking about loneliness.
  • Recognise signs that someone needs support.
  • Increase awareness of ways of offering support to someone who feels lonely.

To book, please email me at: CAlcovedes@ageukislington.org.uk

Need help with zoom? If you need any help to join a zoom session (or anything else to do with using technology!), let me know and we can link you into support.

I do hope you'll be able to join us!

Best wishes,

Carmen
