Join us for Carers Wellbeing Day! Thursday 24 November, sessions 10am - 2.30pm Upper Holloway Baptist Church, N7 or via Zoom Claim your place at our Carers Wellbeing Day! Join us in person to chat to other Islington carers and organisations providing local support for carers including cost of living support. Or you can also connect online.
A relaxed, fun day and a breather from caring, hear talks from NHS speakers to help carers get the most from the healthcare system. We'll be joined by Cllr Janet Burgess, Carers Champion for Islington Council and Ros Miller, Carers Champion for University College Hospital. A relaxing afternoon will follow a buffet lunch, with pampering and a wellbeing session for you!

Find out about 'Cost of Living' events that are taking place this month around Islington, including one at Caxton House Community Centre (Archway tube) on 10th November. There will also be lots of Cost of living information and guidance especially for carers at the Carers Wellbeing Day on 24th November.
Let's Talk Budgeting Wednesday 30 Nov, 10.30 -11.30am LIFT Islington, 45 White Lion Street, N1 We're planning a free 'Let's Talk Budgeting' Workshop at LIFT Islington (near Angel tube) on the 30th. This will share hands-on practical ways that you can use to keep track of the money coming in and the money going out, to help you feel more in control. There will be refreshments and information about further Cost of Living Support that's available.
'Sparkling Joy' Creative Workshops for Carers 6 Wednesdays from 9th November 2.30 to 4.45pm Cally Clock Tower Centre, Caledonian Park, N7 9HF Islington Carers Hub and Create are teaming up to bring carers in Islington a series of weekly arts activities exploring a range of playful techniques. No previous art experience is required. We'll find 'Sparkling joy' exploring drawing, printmaking and stitching techniques with lots of support from an expert tutor.
Finding inspiration to cook! Good nutrition is a key way to keep your body and mind healthy as well as helping fight and prevent illness. Sometimes though, it can be hard to find the motivation to cook healthy food from scratch.
Tying in with Nutrition Awareness Week, Islington community member, David, talks about how he finds inspiration to cook for one and keep diabetes at bay by focusing on simple, comfort food. Why not try his recipe for red lentil soup? We'd love to hear your recipes too!
British Red Cross First Aid Training (via Zoom) Tuesday 15, 1.30 - 3pm & Thursday 17, 11am - 12.30pm Are you interested in learning essential, life-saving first aid skills to help in an emergency? If so, our first aid workshop might be for you. These are interactive workshops, run by experienced British Red Cross educators, that build your confidence to help someone in a first aid emergency, using everyday objects around you. It's particularly important for carers!
'Agatha Christie's London' Talk, Thurs 10 Nov 11am-12 Online via Zoom Join Tina Hodgkinson, long-time Agatha Christie fan, for this special illustrated online talk that follows in Agatha’s footsteps around London. It will 'visit' her former homes, and fashionable restaurants, luxury hotels and other locations that she and her characters frequented. London had a special place in Agatha’s heart, dating back to childhood, when she would go there to visit family. We hope that you can join in via Zoom.

OTHER PROJECTS & INFORMATION Strength & Balance Classes With Arsenal in Community These free sessions are specially designed to help local over 55’s to become a little stronger and more mobile with this low impact exercise class. Led by qualified coaches there is the option to be chair based, standing or both. Based at Mildmay Community Centre, Mayville Estate, contact Rhys at Arsenal in the Community to get started!
'Take Five' Minutes to Reduce Scams Take Five is a national campaign that offers straight-forward advice to help everyone protect themselves from scams. This includes scams by email and by phone as well as online fraud – particularly where criminals pretend that they are a trusted organisation. You can find lots of useful materials on their website.
