How are you? Things are warming up outside and the government's step-by-step changes for the lifting of coronavirus social distancing restrictions are slowly slotting into place.
To keep us all active and connected, we have a range of activities available on zoom from both Age UK Islington and its partners. And we have an invite from our Chief Executive Officer, Sally Miller, to "Tell Age UK Islington what's needed for the future" in three upcoming events!
Know-how & Skiills
1) Tell us what's needed!
Wed 14th April / Thurs 22nd April / Wed 28th April
Age UK Islington is currently putting together its plans for the next three years. Our new Chief Executive, Sally Miller, invites you to tell us what you think is needed - at one of an upcoming series of online events that she will be hosting.
For example, "What other services should we operate in the future?", "What activities and events would be of interest?" We would love to hear from you, so do get in touch and book a place!
Lots of us experience stress and anxiety in life and these feelings have been particularly intense for many people over lockdown.
The Recovery College has put together a series of weekly webinars to help people in their recovery from COVID-19. There are another 6 sessions coming up over the next 6 weeks, with the next one on 30th March focusing on "Managing Anxiety" and the week after on "Mindfulness". They're well worth a listen.
Census Day was on Sunday 21st March. If you haven't already filled in your Census form, it's not too late to do so. Make sure you identify yourself as an unpaid carer when you complete your Census Form on 21 March. Tick yes to question 24.
If you'd like some help completing the Census, click the button below to see how you can get support.
Fridays 9th, 16th, 23rd April at 2.30pm, 30th at 4pm
This is an exciting opportunity for Age UK Islington clients to bring stories to life through shadow puppetry, while spending time with your grandchildren or other young members of your family or friends! You will discover exciting storytelling techniques and create captivating silhouettes.
Through a four-week series of online workshops, you will choose a story, build a shadow puppet and theatre with items you find at home, and present these stories to your young audience and fellow participants! For more information and to book, please click below!
One of our volunteers, Samuel Clark, recently met with our Art Journaling tutor, Jeanne Pring, and other members of our online Art Journaling Get Together. He was inpsired to write a feature for our website!
The feature gives an insight into how Jeanne came to start the Art Journaling session and what different members have got out of it in this very challenging year. There are also examples of Art Journals from the sessions, reflecting people's different personal styles.
The session takes place every Monday at 11am and is an opportunity to experiment with your inner creativity in a relaxed environment and take some time for yourself.
Click the button below to see the feature including details of how to join the group - new members are always welcome!
Are you worried about other things? You can call to talk to us about anything that you are concerned about. This might be if you're feeling low, for bereavement support, or about housing or money worries.....
