OUR REGULAR GET TOGETHERS & SUPPORT GROUPS

Let's Talk Peer Event Wed 21 Sept, 10.30am-12.30pm (Zoom)

Don't forget that our Let's Talk Peer Event provides information about financial support that is available, every month. In September's Let's Talk session, we'll be joined by guest speakers including experts from the Money & Pensions Service.  If you are of state pensionable age, make sure you know about pensions credit - too many people who are eligible for this do not claim it, yet it can open a gateway to further financial support.

How to look at Contemporary Art

Tuesday 27th Sept, 11am -12noon (Zoom)

When you walk into a white walled gallery like Saatchi Gallery, surrounded by many different pieces of work of all shapes and sizes, it’s sometimes hard to know where to start. In this special edition of "Painting Appreciation", Florence Goodhand-Tait, Head of Learning at Saatchi Gallery, will explore how we look at art, what questions do we ask ourselves & how do we know what we think of it?

Free Bowling Taster Session

Friday 9 September, 11am - 12.30pm Finsbury Square, EC2A

The 'Bowls Club' has taken over Finsbury Square Bowling Green throughout this summer. They are inviting Age UK Islington's clients to try a shorter, faster form of lawn bowls under the guidance of their experienced team. It's an opportunity to try out bowling, totally free of charge. Whether you're an experienced player or a beginner, why not come along?

Sadlers Wells Free 'Preview' Performance

Friday 9th September, 3.45 - 5.45pm, Peacock Theatre, WC2A

Instead of our usual Park Theatre matinee, this month we're able to bring you a free 'preview' of a Sadler's Wells performance. For almost 50 years, the all-male comedy ballet company Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo (The Trocks) have been delighting audiences. Step into the auditorium to watch behind the scenes.

NETWORK EVENTS & PROJECTS

Learning Opportunities, Courses & Enrolment Days

Why not take the opportunity to learn something new this autumn? There's loads of really fantastic courses in Islington for all kinds of interests and goals.

City and Islington have a wide range of courses including some excellent courses that you can apply to do completely free. Similarly with Adult Community Learning courses. Both organisations have enrolment days coming up - some City & Islington College enrolment days take place in late August and go on until 2 September. Adult Community Learning enrolment days are 7 to 9 September. You can discover what's taking place and have an informal chat about what you might like to do.

For those who are interested in tech, INCO is providing a 16 week part-time online Google IT Support Certificate Scholarship Program. There is an Application Form here and it's open to all ages.

Golden Grant Maker

Islington Giving is looking for 8 local older residents (they are likely to prioritise people over 65 but any resident over the age of 55 can apply) to come together to make decisions about how a minimum of £110,000 of Islington Giving’s grants budget can be spent to support local groups to provide more opportunities for older people to come together, have fun, build connections and tackle isolation.
