NEWS

The Easing of Lockdown

Lockdown presented challenges to how Londoners felt, with many people feeling socially isolated. However, the easing of lockdown has also brought its own set of issues. The prospect of taking steps closer to 'how things used to be' is proving difficult for many and is something that is affecting older and younger people alike.

The Apps presented by Good Thinking, the digital mental wellbeing service, at our recent "Let's Talk" peer support group could be something to try out if you're comfortable with or open to the idea of using technology. The Apps can help to rebuild confidence and help us to slowly make changes to achieve goals that are important to us.

Historical walks around the area, not too long, not too fast

Greater London Walks are qualified guides who “In the past few years have led many walks around this great city covering many different areas, subjects and eras”. We’re delighted that they were successful in obtaining a grant to deliver regular walks for seniors around Islington during the summer months, starting June 3rd.

This is a great way to try getting outside again and to meet with others. To book, you need to contact Greater London Walks, but it is something that Age UK Islington is actively promoting as part of our Get Together programme.

Pop-up vaccine clinics

UCL Research Study

University College London would like to speak to young adult carers (aged 18-24) who have been providing unpaid care, help or support to a relative, partner or friend with care needs during the pandemic. We would like to understand your experiences of the pandemic, social distancing and social isolation, including any impacts on mental health, well-being and daily life. They are offering a £10 voucher for those who take part.  See the poster for more information.
