In the run up to the festive holiday time, don’t forget Islington’s parks! Escape life’s everyday pressures, enjoy some time alone or get together with others. Our parks also provide a great space to get some exercise - and don't forget that a brisk walk can be just as good for you as a run, as long as it lasts longer!
In addition to providing a natural public space, did you know that there are activities which take place in the parks? There’s lots that takes place in outside spaces and what’s on offer is free!
Introducing Islington's Parks
There are lots of green spaces in Islington, some small, some large, some sporty and some that are a haven for nature. You can find the park that’s nearest to you using this map - click below.
Wander around your local park, take part in a guided walk or even find your favourite route to walk between the parks. There’s lots of choice when it comes to guided walks - look out in the new year for history and health guided walks, dementia-friendly walks, health and birdwatching walks and wellbeing walks. It’s not just about the walking, there are experts to share knowledge and to inspire discussion along the way too.
This side of Christmas, see our Festive Calendar of Events which includes some activities that you can join in parks, plus lots more!
You can also browse the Parks website to plan what you might like to join in the new year! In addition to walks, there are also art & craft sessions, nature-themed outdoor fun for families or the Men’s Shed at St Luke’s Community Centre for men age 55yrs+ who live near the centre (you'll need to scroll down on the park's webpage to find the activities).
Find a local community gardening group or a local Friends of Park group (local residents that volunteer to do gardening and other activities). There are also regular times in many Islington Parks when volunteers meet to do regular tasks to help the parks keep looking their best.
