Islington Carers Hub is here to provide advice, information and support to all carers aged 18 or over who live or work in Islington or care for someone living in Islington.

Dear Islington Carer,

Welcome to Islington Carers Hub July newsletter!

NEWS

We hope that you were able to take part in some of the events that we hosted in June, together with partner organisations. There was so much on and the weather was amazing. We had Carers Week (7-13 June) and it was great to see more carers coming together in-person to take part in wellbeing events, to meet other carers and the Islington Carers Hub team.

It was also great to see so many faces new and old at Let's Get Back Together events (20-24 June), with special guest Dame Esther Rantzen and Windrush Day Celebrations mid-week. Over 250 people attended our events during the week. For some great photos of Carers Week and the benefits of coming together, please click the button below!

'What's it like to be a carer?'

Islington Carers Hub offers an annual session for UCL Medical Students to give them an insight into what it's like to be an unpaid carer - what it means to be an unpaid carer, the toll that it can take physically and mentally, the type of support that you provide as a carer, in what ways you represent the needs of your cared-for, e.g. in health appointments.

The sessions will be taking place at the Upper Holloway Baptist Church, N& on Thursdays and Fridays in October through to February in the morning, with lunch to follow (2 hours in total approx).

If you would like to volunteer to share your experience then please let us know! You can register to take part in as few or as many as you'd like.  Call us for more information and what's involved.
